Business support available from EECA

If your business has been affected by the Christchurch earthquakes, EECA is here to help. As their website says - "when it's time to get back to business, ensuring you have the most energy efficient premises and equipment possible will pay dividends in lower energy costs, improved productivity and brand value."

EECA has several different funding programmes to help businesses improve competitiveness and productivity through energy.  All of these can be seen here: https://www.eecabusiness.govt.nz/Christchurch

EECA Business grants are targeted at larger energy users ($250,000+ pa). To support the rebuild, Christchurch-based companies get extra weighting for these grants. These can cover up to 1/3 of the cost of an energy audit, design audit, or investing in new energy efficient technology. EECA runs monthly contestable funding rounds for business grant applications.

EECA and business

The New Zealand government energy agency Energy Efficiency and Conservation Agency (EECA) provides funding and advice to help lead New Zealand to a better energy future.  The EECA website has a section devoted to programmes and funding: www.eeca.govt.nz/programmes-and-funding.
CAfE aims to work alongside EECA but concentrating on Christchurch, particularly in light of the rebuild of the City. EECA We encourage, support, and promote energy efficiency, energy conservation and the use of renewable sources of energy at home, in business, and on the road through a number of work programmes.

Commercial energy plant opportunities

Business operations and machinery use energy. CAfE is committed to help find solutions to make the energy contribution to your business more efficient and, where possible, help you utilise other sustainable energy sources without compromising your service to your customers.

Modern solutions can involve:

Energy and your business

While we all want to lower our energy consumption and reduce harmful atmospheric emissions, businesses are very aware of the need to play their part.  Energy, including transport is one of the major items in any businesses budget, so it makes sense to make better use of energy and there are many ways to go about this.  One of the first issues is becoming aware of energy use in your business.

Energy planning in your business

Good businesses require smart business planning.  The same planning should include energy use. The planning you use will depend on what is appropriate for your business and the environment that you work in.
All businesses need to think about energy; how you use it, how much you use and the forms of fuel you are consuming in your processes.

Smart tips for business

How your business uses energy depends on the size of your operation and the work you do. Whatever you do, and however you do it, you can use energy more sustainably and save money.  It is worth looking at industry experience to see if there are particular sustainability and saving practices that can be of particular benefit to your business.  If you would like to network within your industry and you can't see how that might work contact CAfE and we may be able to assist.
