Energyfirst grant

Mon, 04/07/2011 - 4:37pm -- rory

The Energyfirst grant for $5,000 of free expert energy advice for your building project (over 500sqm) has been popular in the last quarter of 2012.
The scheme, delivered in partnership with EECA, is offering grants for building developers in Christchurch to have their building concept plans reviewed by an energy efficiency design expert.
The service is 100% funded up to maximum levels depending on the size of the building. There are top-ups for larger buildings, for energy modelling.

If you're serious about developing a new building and including energy efficiency in that design, then incorporating energy efficient features at the concept design stage is the best time to embed them into a building. The Christchurch rebuild offers a great opportunity to design future proof buildings, that will be desirable and efficient for many years to come.

WHAT’S ON OFFER?

  • A grant covering 100% of the cost for an energy efficiency expert to review and advise you on your design (up to $5000+GST)
  • Buildings over 3000 sq m may be eligible for additional energy modelling funding as part of the review

There's more free expert advice available for your project if you also talk to Target Sustainability!

CAfE Chief Executive, Merv Altments says developers now have the opportunity to build buildings that are energy efficient and use renewable energy resources.

“As the rebuild gets underway, building developers have the chance at design level to incorporate the most up to date technology and support opportunities for the use of renewable power. As a city we’ve said we want to reduce energy consumption and CO2 emissions and promote green technologies,” he says. “The easiest way to do this is to embed energy efficiency into the design of a new building.”

The CAfE (cafe.gen.nz) Advisory Service is operated in partnership with EECA, and we want to help you, save money, use power more efficiently, and benefit Christchurch as we make Christchurch better.
